Alan Wake, Stephen King ha chiesto un solo dollaro di diritti

Il 17 ottobre, Alan Wake II segnerà l'atteso ritorno della serie horror firmata dalla software house finlandese Remedy Entertainment. Il primo episodio della saga contiene una citazione del maestro Stephen King; il boss di Remedy, Sam Lake, ha fortemente voluto inserire questa citazione e la cosa si è rivelata molto più... economica di quanto si aspettasse. Intervistato da Eurogamer, Lake ha parlato della generosità dello scrittore del Maine.

All'inizio di Alan Wake, il protagonista pronuncia le seguenti parole mentre è alla guida:

"Stephen King once wrote that 'Nightmares exist outside of logic, and there's little fun to be had in explanations; they're antithetical to the poetry of fear.'

"In a horror story, the victim keeps asking 'why?' But there can be no explanation, and there shouldn't be one. The unanswered mystery is what stays with us the longest, and it's what we'll remember in the end. My name is Alan Wake, I'm a writer."

La citazione è stata estrapolata da una intervista concessa da King a Entertainment Weekly. Quando Remedy ha chiesto il permesso di poterla utilizzare all'interno del gioco, Stephen King ha preteso solo una compensazione simbolica di un dollaro per i suoi diritti.
